7/15 Today in Weird Music History: 1980.  Pop icon Linda Ronstadt makes her dramatic and operatic debut in a production of  Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates Of Penzance at the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park.  The risk paid off.  She would later star in a film adaptation of the operetta in 1983.
