1953 The death of Sergei Prokofiev, just three hours before Stalin.
1942: The premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony, subtitled The Leningrad. After Stalin’s death, Shostakovich revealed to a biographer that it was really more about the destruction of Leningrad by Stalin than by Hitler. Of course, he had said it was all about destruction by Hitler while Stalin was still alive.
