3/2 Today in Weird Music History: 1924.  Jean Sibelius finishes his final major composition, the masterful yet short Symphony No. 7.  It is the last major work of his output.  He lives another 33 years without composing anything of significance.

    The Seventh is a total miracle. Totally reasonable argument can be made that it’s the best symphony ever composed.

    Don’t forget about Tapiola though…he wrote that in 1926. In a related story, it is also ridiculously awesome.
