Today in WMH: FDNY Inpires


2/16 Today in Weird Music History: 1908. The FDNY has been inspirational long before 9/11.  On this date in 1908, composer and conductor Gustav Mahler is deeply moved while witnessing a funeral procession for a fallen NYC fire chief.  Two years later the drum stroke heard in that procession becomes a defining moment in his 10th Symphony.
