1/12 Today in Weird Music History: 1928: Pianist Vladimir Horowitz and conductor Sir Thomas Beecham refuse to agree on tempi in the Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto for their American debut. Beecham was the headliner, Horowitz a relatively unknown pianist. The resulting near train-wreck at Carnegie Hall is legendary in concert lore.
